WE WILL NOT BE SHAKEN WHEN THE SHAKING COMES

STANDING AGAINST ADVERSITY
WELCOME TO PASTOR DR. CARLOTTA'S COUNSELING CENTER.

When we think we are going through a trial or a test of some kind because things are going badly, or because somebody doesn't like us anymore, we need to rethink what is going on and focus on the real trial. No matter what the circumstances, the real and only test or trial is whether or not we stay steady on the WORD.

The best definition of the word "patience" is the word "consistency," remaining the same way all the time. Whatever the circumstance, if we remain calm and consistent with the Word, the test or trial will not shake us into believing the contrary evidence.

Contrary evidence comes into our lives when the circumstances of life seem to prove to us that our"reality" is not the same as the Word of God. We are tempted to cast away our faith in the faithfulness of God and His ability to do what He said He would do for us. If we have gone out of our way to train out thinking in the Word, we will not be shaken when the shaking comes.

The Amplified Bible says it best, in Psalm 94:12,13 "Blessed is the man whom You discipline and instruct. O Lord, and teach out of your law; that You may give him power to hold himself calm in the days of adversity, until the inevitable pit of destruction is dug for the wicked."

Patience has the courage to refuse what Satan's circumstances can prove true in the natural world. Patience refuses to bow to the pressures because it knows God's Word has never failed. Patience says, "Let God be true but every man a liar." Romans 3:4 KJV Patience refuses knows that when faith is exercised, success is inevitable.

Faith will continue to trust in God's Word and His faithfulness beyond all reasonable doubt. God is good, faith believes that, and acts accordingly. Patience believes that, and holds steady, keeping the door open until faith can finish its work.

THE THIEF! Mark 4:15 NKJV "And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts." Here we see why we encounter so much opposition when we begin to learn something new in the scriptures.

The thief doesn't want us to learn something else that will control his activities. Satan's objective is not personal for us, although it feels intensely personal at the time. The devil does not hate us: he hates God. the devil has no great desires where we are concerned, he only desires to be God, and sit on the throne.

Satan's objective is simply to get the Word completely out of us. Failing that, he wants to choke it so badly in our mind that we completely loss confidence in it and refuse to act on it to any appreciable degree.

What does to make all this happen? He has only one real power, and just five tools with which to exercise that power. I will discuss these things momentarily, but first realize this: The test or trial the enemy uses to get us back away from the Word is not personal, we are merely in the way! The devil focuses his attention on us because he knows God loves us and he knows we have been given the power and authority to stop him in whatever he may be attempting at any given time.

The devil is dangerous because he simply refuses to act according to the law, just like any other bully! It is our job to come against him with the incredibly superior power and authority of the name of Jesus, and simply make him stop. Nothing removes the motivation from a bully like a well placed fist in the eye.

The devil's one real power is the lie. It does not matter what the lie is, or what it is about, the lie will only have power over us if we allow it to by believing it. How do we know the devil is lying to us? How do we know he is not telling the truth this time? John 8:44 NKJV "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.

When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." The devil has no resources that come from the truth. Read John 17:17. All the resources he possesses are based in a lie. This is why we can be confident thathe is telling us lies at every turn. Those lies are utterly powerless over us until and unless we chose to believe them.

The five tools the enemy uses against us are simple and straightforward. All of them are based in giving us some kind of evidence for one or more of our five senses. In his hands, they prove that the Word of God is not working for us, and is therefore not to be trusted.

READ MARK 4:13-20. Now carefully go back and read it again.

1. The first of his tools is called tribulation. In short it means problems. we are all familiar with problems, and none of us like them very much.

2. The second of his tools is called persecution. In short it means stress. This is another word with which we are familiar.

3. The third of his tools is called the care of the world. In short means distraction. All of us know how easily distraction we can be.

4. The fourth of his tools is called the deceitfulness of riches. In short means to cheat, to delude and to deceive. It is an odd fact that most of the people deceived by money have none.

5. The fifth of his tools is called desires for other things. In short means to set the heart upon, to long for, to covet, to lust after. All of us have, to one degree or another, desired something or someone more then we desire to love, serve and please God.

Count It All Joy James 1:2-3 "Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into manifold temptations; Knowing that the proving of your faith worketh patience." The Bible does not say we are to rejoice because of the adversity, test or trial that has come into our lives. The Bible says we are to count it as joy when test, trial and adversity come into our lives because the test of faith puts patience to work.

We can afford to be joyful in the midst of a test of our faith because we know that our patence has been put to work, and that patience will produce until we reach the point where we lack nothing. "And let patience have its perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing." James 1:4

We run into untold problems when we don't give our patience a chance to work, and give up in the middle of the very test our faith is working to overcome. If when the test or trial comes, we can learn to tap into the joy account within us, our patience will hold the door open so our faith can stay out on the job, creating for us another victory to add to an already impressive string.

The end result of allowing our patience to work is that the promises of God will become our personal property, manifested for all the world to see.

If you haven't accepted Christ as your Savior simply say in an audible voice, in all sincerity from the depths of your heart, "Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me of my sins and accept me as Your child. I accept You as my personal Savior and I promise to follow the instructions of Your Word from this day on. If I fail because I am human, please help pick me up so I can try again! Thank you, Jesus, for saving me from all my sins. AMEN."

Go with God and be Blessed!
