Sarasota Florida's Spectacular Beaches On Siesta Key

Siesta Key is a small barrier island just across the bay from Sarasota. One this small island are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The white powdery sands rival the more famous beaches of Cancun or Boracay. There are actually three beaches on this island - Siesta Beach, Turtle Beach and Crescent Beach.

Siesta Beach boasts 40 beautiful acres of beachfront and is home to a large public beach which offers a variety of amenities for guests. There is a concession area with food vendors and a shady picnic area complete with picnic tables. Picnic shelters can be reserved in advance based upon availability. Restrooms and showers are available as are plenty of parking spaces. The parking areas can handle hundreds of cars but during peak season and on weekends, you may have to wait on a space. The beach is guarded by lifeguards year round and the shore is shallow which makes this the perfect beach for kids to play in the sand and surf.

When you tire of playing in the surf, you can play beach volleyball or soccer. Kids will enjoy the playground equipment and adults can work out on the outdoor fitness equipment. In addition, Sarasota holds festivals and events on the beach throughout the year for sports buffs, artists, and kids to take part in.

Siesta Key offers many other exciting opportunities for enjoyment beyond the beaches. You will find many unique shops and dining establishments scattered all over the island. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed but you can also enjoy fine dining at one of the many upscale and chic restaurants.

Siesta Key is home to some of the best accommodations in Sarasota. The reason for this is that many of the fine hotels and condos are beach front so you can enjoy expansive scenic views right from your room.

Siesta Key is the perfect vacation destination year round because the weather is mild during the winter so it is possible to enjoy beach activities even in the coolest months. There are many unique dining experiences for you which offer everything from seafood to steaks to vegetarian fare. The activities on offer are seemingly endless. You can go deep sea fishing, relax on the beach, rent jet skis, participate in sporting events, or browse the many unique shops and boutiques on the island.

Siesta Key is just across the bridge from Sarasota so you have quick access to all the attraction nearby. In addition, I-75 is just a short drive away so you can easily take day trips to Tampa or Fort Myers. However, there is so much to do on the island itself, you can stay busy and have a great time without worrying about driving off the island during your vacation.
