Speak In Tongues

Reason Why God's Children Should Speak In Tongues

1 Corinthians 14:18
WELCOME TO PASTOR DR. CARLOTTA'S COUNSELING CENTER.

I thank God, I speak with tongues more than ye all. The apostle Paul wrote and spoke much about the subject of speaking in other tongues, and it appears that he practiced what he preached for he said, "I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all" 1 Cor.14:18. I too, thank God that I speak in tongues, regularly, and I wish that all believers would make this a habit and enjoy the same blessings and source of power in everyday life. The purpose of this Hub is to set forth motives why every believer should speak in tongues, and to help believers see the blessings that can be theirs through daily in passing on the power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

The Word of God teaches that when we are filled with the Holy Ghost, we speak with other tongues as the Spirit Of God gives utterance. As we have seen, speaking is an initial confrmation or sign the baptism of the Holy Spirit: "And they were all FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST, and began to SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit gave them utterance" Acts. 2:4

Paul, in writing to the Church at Corinth promotes the Corinthian Christians to continue the practice of speaking with others tongues in their worship of God. He also promotes them to speak in tongues in their personal prayer lives as a means of Spiritual edification or building up. The Bible says, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself" 1 Cor. 14:4. Jude 20 also links praying in tongues with building yourself up spiritually. Jude 20: But ye, beloved, BUILDING UP YOURSELVES on your most holy faith, PRAYING IN THE HOLY GHOST. It builds one's faith to speak in tongues, and we all need this!

Another reason why Christians should speak in tongues is that tongues keeps us repeatedly aware of the Holy Spirit's indwelling attendance. For if your are mindful of the indwelling attendance of the Holy Ghost everyday, that is certain to have an effect on the way you think and live. Regrettably, we all know people who have been filled with the Holy Ghost, yet still lose their temper and say and do things they shouldn't. It is because they have been walking in the flesh instead of in the Spirit, and they haven't been connecting with God as they should have been.

Another reason why Christians should speak in tongues is to get rid of the likelihood of self- centerness in our prayer life. Praying unscriptural, it may be selfish. Too many times our prayers are not as we ought. Rom. 8:26. We are to pray to the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ John 16:23,24. By praying with groaning and with other tongues, the Holt Spirit is helping you to pray according to the will of God. Therefore, speaking in tongues gets rid of self-centerness and praying outside of the will of God because when we pray in tongues, we are praying the perfect will of God. WOW!

Another reason why Christians should speak in tongues is that speaking in tongues is a means of keeping us liberated from the corruption of the ungodly and blasphemous elements of the world. In your living room, car, or work, you can speak to yourself and to God. Praying in tongues provides a way for things to be prayed for about which no one thinks to pray, or even aware of. We already know that the Holy Spirit helps us pray for things we do not know how to pray far as we ought. In addition, the Holy Spirit, who knows everything, can pray through us for things about which our natural mind knows nothing. When people come to me for prayer and I don't there situation, that's when speaking in tongues goes into motion! Then I know I did my best for that person's situation. Praise God.

Praying in tongues gives thanks to God. I Cor. 14:15-17.

And my final reason why Christian should speak in tongues is found in James 3:8. "But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison." Yielding your tongue to the Holy Spirit to speak with other tongues is a big step toward being able to fully yield others to God.

If you haven't accepted Christ as your Savior simply say in an audible voice, in all sincerity from the depths of your heart, "Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me of my sins and accept me as Your child. I accept You as my personal Savior and I promise to follow the instructions of Your Word from this day on. If I fail because I am human, please help pick me up so I can try again! Thank you, Jesus, for saving me from all my sins. AMEN."

Go with God and be Blessed!
