Saving Souls Through Jesus Christ, One Soul At A Time....

It is a sad commentary on the age in which we live that so many members of the Body of Christ think that bondage to sinful habits is normal for the Christian life. God did not put the old man to death so we could continue to serve him. He did not crucify us with Christ to see us flounder helplessly in sinful habits.

God set us free on the inside so we could have complete mastery over sin, and over the enticement of the flesh and the devil. I Thessalonians 4:7: "For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness." It is our manner of life that separates us from the world, not our superior attitude. We are sanctified (made holy) on the inside, and that which is on the inside of us works its way out into our daily walk.

To the Apostle Paul, a Christian bound by sin was something abnormal. "Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? " Romans 6:2 Paul, considered a believer bound by sin to be a believer who denied that God had done anything at all inside him. Paul constantly encourage believers to walk according to what God has done inside them. Read I Corinthians 6:19, Ephesians 4:1, and Ephesians 5:8. Because of what God has done inside us, we are FREE to choose.

Read Romans 7:14-25. This is a vividly clear picture of a person bound in sin. This person does not have the freedom to choose to do what is right. He is completely trapped into dong what is wrong, even though he doesn't particularly want to do it. By putting to death the old man, God restores to us the right to choose between righteousness and sin.

He did not make it mandatory that we choose right. He made it possible for us to choose right. This is the same ability to choose that Adam had in the Garden Of Eden. Jesus came to do away with the old nature. When that happened, sin and righteousness is before every believer, every moment, every day.

The devil is constant in his effort to tempt us to choose wrongly, but the choice is still ours, no matter how strong the temptation may be. We can choose to follow the leading of our regenerated spirit, or we can choose to follow the dictates of out flesh. We have, as children of God, the right to choose.

After Paul tell us we are dead to sin, he goes on to show us the choice before us. Romans 6:12,13 "Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to its lustful desires. Do not let any part of your body become a tool of wickedness, to be used for sinning. Instead, give yourselves completely to God since you have been given new life. And use your whole body as a tool to do what is right for the Glory of God."

All the power to walk above sin has been given to us, but it is then up to us wjether or not we will allow sin to reign in out mortal bodies."

When we are confronted with an enticement to sin, it is difficult to remember that we do have a choice. Satan tries to convince us that sinning is inevitable. Satan will also quote scripture (Out of context) to prove that there is nothing we can do but sin. Remember that Satan is a liar, and there is no truth in him. "Yeah but this time he is right," is never true!

The truth s that you are always free to choose between sin and righteousness, because the old man is DEAD! If this were not true, Paul's exhortation would have no validity at all. Paul exhorts us to choose because we actually do have that freedom through Christ's work on the cross.

Read Romans 6:16,19. Each of us will be the servant of the one to whom we present ourselves. If we present ourselves to obey the desires of sin, we will be sin's servants. If we present ourselves to God on a daily basis, we will be called servants of God and of righteousness. Romans 12:1 NKJV....

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." Because God has restored to us our free will, we have the right to present ourselves to God as servantsof righteousness. We are FREE to do this because of what Jesus has done! THANK YOU JESUS!!! THANK YOU!
